Decimal vs fractional odds — what’s the difference?
Fractional odds (e.g. 5/1) show profit relative to your stake; decimal odds (e.g. 6.0) show the total return including stake. They’re the same price in two formats: 5/1 = 6.0, evens = 2.0, 1/2 = 1.5. Decimals make comparing prices and calculating returns easier.
Example
£10 at 5/1 = £50 profit + £10 stake = £60 total. The identical bet at 6.0 decimal: £10 × 6.0 = £60. Same return, different notation.
